When hyaluronic acid is the right choice
The decisive distinction: dynamic lines are created by muscle movement and disappear when the face is relaxed – we treat these with botulinum toxin. Static lines are visible at rest as well, because volume and supporting tissue are missing – this is where hyaluronic acid works. Many patients have both, which is why the two methods often complement each other.
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule the body produces itself, and it binds many times its own weight in water. Introduced as a cross-linked gel, it cushions the line from within, gives the tissue back its structure and is completely broken down by the body over the course of months.

The procedure
After analysing your face at rest and in movement, we decide together which areas are to be treated – often less, and more in a different place, makes better sense than first assumed. The preparations contain a local anaesthetic; an anaesthetic cream is also possible. The treatment takes about 30 minutes and the result is visible immediately.
Safety
Redness, swelling, tenderness and small bruises are possible for a time. The most serious – though rare – complication is the accidental occlusion of a blood vessel through intravascular injection, which if left untreated can lead to tissue damage. This is why fillers belong in medical hands. We keep hyaluronidase in stock as an emergency medication, with which injected material can be dissolved within a few hours. We do not treat during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in acute flares of autoimmune disease, or where there is an infection in the treatment area.

Dermal filler treatment is a self-pay service (IGeL); it is billed according to the GOÄ scale of fees. Where the indication is aesthetic and there is no medical necessity, the services are subject to VAT; all amounts are final prices including 19 % VAT.
