Why the midface ages

Facial ageing is not only a question of the skin. Beneath the surface lie defined fat compartments that shrink over the years and migrate downwards; at the same time bone substance is lost at the cheekbone. The result: the cheek looks flatter, a hollow forms beneath the eye (the tear trough), and because the supporting structure is missing, the tissue above it descends – nasolabial folds and an early loss of jawline definition are often a consequence of this loss of volume rather than of the skin itself.

Procedure and aftercare

After photographic documentation and planning in an upright position, the treatment takes about 30 minutes. The preparations used contain a local anaesthetic, which makes them well tolerated. You can see the result immediately, but should allow for swelling in the first few days.

• No sport, sauna or alcohol for 24 hours
• No facial massage and no cosmetic treatments for two weeks
• Small bruises are possible and disappear within a week
• Follow-up check after two weeks, with fine correction if needed

Costs

Cheek augmentation is billed according to our general hyaluronic acid price structure – from €420 for one millilitre, from €690 for two millilitres; two millilitres are usually appropriate. As a self-pay service (IGeL) it is billed under the GOÄ private fee schedule; all amounts are final prices including 19 % VAT. See the full price list
