Why full-face rather than in patches?
Treating individual areas often leaves a visible transition: the treated zone is smoother and lighter than its surroundings. The fullface treatment avoids this by renewing the entire face in one session – from the hairline to beyond the jawline, including the neck and décolleté if you wish. The result is a consistently even complexion without any steps.
What the treatment achieves
The fractional CO2 laser works on two levels. At the surface it removes the damaged outer layer of skin in microscopically fine columns – pigment changes, rough texture and enlarged pores improve. At depth, the controlled heat creates a stimulus to which the skin responds over months by forming new collagen and elastin. The skin becomes measurably thicker, firmer and more elastic.
- Fine lines around the eyes, upper lip and cheeks
- Slackened skin with an uneven surface and large pores
- Sun damage, photoageing and uneven pigmentation
- Acne scars and other depressed scars
- Actinic elastosis – the typically coarsened skin that follows decades of UV exposure
The procedure
Preparation. About four weeks beforehand we start preparatory skincare where this is needed; from then on strict sun protection applies. If you are prone to cold sores, we start preventive medication the day before.
On the day of treatment. After thorough cleansing, an anaesthetic cream is left to work for 45 to 60 minutes; with more intensive settings we add a local anaesthetic or nerve blocks. The treatment itself takes 45 to 60 minutes. Afterwards we cool the skin and apply a regenerating ointment.
Healing. Days 1 to 3: marked redness, swelling and a feeling of heat – the swelling is at its strongest on the second day. Days 3 to 5: the skin turns brownish, with fine crusts and the beginning of flaking. Days 5 to 7: the skin flakes away and the new skin appears beneath it. From day 7 to 10 you are usually presentable again; the skin stays pink for four to six weeks and can be covered with make-up from around day ten.
Aftercare
- Cool consistently in the first few days, use rich skincare, do not scratch off the crusts
- Mild cleansing from day seven, then step by step back to your usual routine
- Four to six weeks of consistent sun protection with SPF 50 – the most important rule
- No sport, no sauna and no swimming pool for ten days
- Only use retinol and fruit acids again after four weeks
