Why screening matters
Basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and malignant melanoma often develop over years – without pain, without symptoms. Regular checks with a dermatologist are the most effective protection: detected early, skin cancer can be removed completely in the vast majority of cases.
How the examination works
We examine your entire skin systematically with the dermatoscope – including areas that are difficult to see, such as the scalp, the ears and the soles of the feet. Any suspicious moles are assessed there and then, and we discuss the next steps with you. Should removal be advisable, it can take place in our own on-site treatment room – no referral, no waiting for a hospital appointment.
- Patients with statutory health insurance: skin cancer screening from the age of 35 every two years, covered by statutory health insurance
- Privately insured patients: annual screening is usually reimbursed
- Where the risk is increased, for example by a family history: closer monitoring
